3M is seeking a Product Engineer for the Traffic Safety and Security Division to be responsible for supporting and commercializing new innovative solutions that enhance safety, security, and mobility for governments and citizens. Be part of what’s next!
Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Product Engineer will apply their strong scientific/engineering background to support solutions in traffic safety and security markets. In addition, will collaborate with manufacturing, marketing and sales personnel to maintain existing products and to commercialize new products.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Supporting laser engraved digital print development, including working with potential external vendors.
- Leading the technical support for existing products and providing assistance to manufacturing, sales and marketing personnel with existing products.
- Developing and implementing new test methods required for product support or commercialization.
- Supporting innovative applications and extensions of existing technologies, products and/or businesses.
- Working with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, laboratory, marketing, etc) to improve existing products and commercialize new products
- Establishing intra-divisional, inter-divisional interactions, and corporate laboratory interactions to develop a network of support to facilitate completion of programs
- Communicating technical results to business groups, industry organizations, external parties and customers as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university
- Minimum of 1+ year laboratory work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum of 1+ year new product development experience
- 3M experience
- Experience working with film, adhesive, polymer, printing, and/or optics technologies in product or laboratory support roles (i.e, product engineering role)
- Statistical data analysis experience
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Location: Maplewood, Minnesota
Travel: May include up to 10%
