3M is seeking an Application Engineer for our Electronics & Energy Business Group Laboratory in Austin, Texas.
In the position of Application Engineer you will use your skills and knowledge to contribute to the application development, testing, and design of innovative solutions to multiple product areas including radio frequency, microwave, EMI/EMC, high speed data communication, mobile and in-building wireless solutions, and sensing technologies. You will work with a team of engineers and scientists developing innovate solutions that span for conception to commercialization.
Location: The position of Application Engineer will be located in Austin, Texas and relocation assistance will not be available.
Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
U.S. Export Control laws and U.S. Government Department of Defense contracts and sub-contracts impose certain restrictions on companies and their ability to share export-controlled and other technology and services with certain "non-U.S. persons" (persons who are not U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., refugees, "Temporary Residents" (granted Amnesty or Special Agricultural Worker provisions), or persons granted asylum (but excluding persons in nonimmigrant status such as H-1B, L-1, F-1, etc.) or non-U.S. citizens.
To comply with these laws, and in conjunction with the review of candidates for those positions within 3M that may present access to export controlled technical data, 3M must assess employees' U.S. person status, as well as citizenship(s).

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another science or technical discipline not listed
- Minimum 5 years combined engineering and/or application development experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Demonstrated experience in radio frequency, analog and/or digital circuit simulation design, prototyping, and/or testing
- Familiarity with RF communication devices such as WiFi, Bluetooth, GPRS, WiGig, LTE, WiMax, CDMA, GSM
- Strong EMI/EMC control and mitigation experience
- Proficient with test equipment such as network analyzers, oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.
- Demonstrated technical leadership through successful collaboration between customers, businesses and staff laboratories
- Familiarity with system analysis and software development
