Description

Computer Security Forensic Specialist is responsible for analyze output from various technologies in order to effectively investigate security incidents. You will need to be able to ascertain and determine not only root cause and damage caused, and additionally identify the methods utilized by intruder, as well as ascertain the ongoing potential risk and exposure to the breached system and to the greater environment. This is a hands on position that requires skills in the use of Guidance Software EnCase. You are required to provide rotational On-Call support, and be able to travel on short notice.

Responsibilities
- Must assume ownership of escalated reported incidents and coordinate activities with Global Security groups in support of incident investigations
- Must be able to clearly understand and articulate process and procedure documents within Incident Response, to various Cyber Incident, Business and IT groups in support of incident investigation
- Manage issues resulting from an incident or investigation in accordance with company policies and forensic lab best practices, and work collaboratively with technical and business leads
- Conduct highly-confidential internal investigations into violations of acceptable Use Policies and other activities counter to the success of 3M Company
- Utilize technology and tools to continually learn and innovate, share knowledge with team members and enhance service delivery
- Demonstrate intimate knowledge and direct experience of the following to investigate and respond to network and/or computer intrusions and data theft: information security, computer forensics, data analysis, and system administration of Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems, and Anti-Virus software
- Demonstrate leadership and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team.
- Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Take full responsibility for tasks including consistently reviewing one's work to identify and improve own approach for producing quality work products
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work in excess of standard hours when necessary
- Demonstrate ability to communicate with client executives up to CIO or CISO level
- Limited travel, maybe 10%

Basic/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited institution
- Experience with digital forensics

Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in MIS, Computer Science from a recognized college or university
- Should be able to perform roles of evidence custodian, evidence collector, evidence imager, and evidence examiner
- Must be able to create ongoing process documentation for different investigation focuses as technology change
- Familiarity with network protocols and packet captures
- Experience with Wireshark, Snort and other network level security tools
- Have expert-level knowledge of typical attack vectors and information systems penetration techniques
- EnCase Certification or can obtain Encase certification within 6 months
- Forensic and/or Malware Reverse Engineering/Mitigation, GCFA or GREM certification

Location: Maplewood, MN

Travel: May include up to 25% domestic/international
