Description
3M is seeking a Technical Service Engineer to support development and to drive engineering efforts for existing products in multiple business areas supported in the 3M Health Care Service Center supporting Infection Prevention, Food Safety and Dental product lines.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the support of products and systems including electromechanical devices, hardware, and software. The successful candidate will be able to apply their strong background in electronics and computer systems (hardware and software) to support Health Care Service Center products.
The primary Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following challenging and rewarding responsibilities:
- Lead the technical support and training for new and existing products and providing assistance to customers
- Support innovative applications and extensions of new and existing technologies, products and/or businesses
- Lead interactions with customers, providing voice of the customer and Industry trends back the business unit
- Create training materials and delivering training sessions to customers
- Support global Regional Service Centers through technical training and escalated support
- Recommend customer solutions, working with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, laboratory, marketing, etc) to develop and commercialize them
- Establishing intra-divisional, inter-divisional interactions, and customer interactions to develop a network of support to facilitate completion of programs
- Communicate technical results to business groups and external parties and customers as appropriate
Relocation is not authorized for this role. It will be based on out Oakdale, MN.
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B Status).
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Science or Engineering
- Experience working with or leading a cross functional team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Software engineering is highly preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in electronics (digital and analog electronics, electromechanical systems as well as computers and software)
- Project management PMI certifications preferred but not required.
- Experience with digital and analog electronics, electromechanical systems as well as computers and software is highly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in technical service functions including supplier and manufacturing support.
- Demonstrated functional skills commensurate with an experienced Technical Service Engineer.
- Capable of working on high impact projects with minimal supervision and of effectively utilizing company resources.
- Excellent customer interaction abilities
- Excellent communication and effective team interaction skills with global teams are required
- Demonstrated strong problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to develop and provide global technical training for service personnel who install, service and support products in the field.
- Ability to work with technical writers in creation of support documentation
- Ability to travel (25%, potentially OUS)
- Timely documentation of work
- Ability to interact effectively between functions, countries and levels
- Six Sigma experience
- Ability to analyze situational issues and implement action steps.
- Detail oriented.
- Proven ability to work with product support teams in a rapidly changing high-technology environment.
- Experience working within the product development environment
- Experience in team leadership and project management is preferred.
- Business management experience and education is preferred.
