3M is seeking a Technical Service Engineer – Signing Systems for the Traffic Safety and Security Systems Division (TSSD) located in Maplewood, Minnesota. Be part of what’s next!
Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Technical Service Engineer will support US TSSD Signing sales and new product development programs in Road and Commercial markets. May provide backup support for International Technical Services operations as skills offer and develop.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Supports Customer deployments of Signage Systems sold to TSSD markets.
- Supports New Customer Development, Training and Forensics associated with signing business operations.
- Participates in Digital Printing Platform New Product Introduction (NPI) development programs.
- Develops & delivers Training literature for customer use of Digital Printing Systems with TSSD materials.
- Supports other TSSD Technical Service program needs (Signing, Pavement, Identity Material, etc.) as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university
- Minimum 3+ (three) years combined experience with Technical Service, Technical Sales, Application Engineering and/or Sign Shop Operations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an accredited university
- Experience in one or more of the following: technical service engineering, field engineering, software systems integration, test standards development and/or application engineering
- Ability to lead forensic investigations
- Ability to conduct lean analysis of customer operations & advise re: improvement needs
- Effective customer communications and ability to effectively interact in a variety of customer settings
- Materials development or experience with materials characterization and development
- Clear, concise technical writing & excellent communication skills (technical writing, oral and presentation)
- Coordination with sales teams or Experience working on a cross functional team (e.g. sales coordination)
- Creative self starter
- Microsoft Office proficient
- Interest in a position that requires frequent travel
Location: Maplewood Minnesota
Travel: May include up to 50% domestic
Relocation: Is authorized (Plans based upon applicant--internal or external, homeowner or renter and whether or not a new college graduate)
