3M is seeking a Control Systems Engineer for the PI&CS Engineering.

Job Summary: The person hired for the position of Control Systems Engineer will primarily be responsible for providing engineering expertise and technical assistance in the area of control systems with a focus on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing PLC’s, Drives and HMI’s.

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

The primary responsibility is the specification, design and installation of industrial control systems for new and existing capital equipment in support of the Northridge, CA plant. Work includes the use of programmable logic control (PLC) systems, motor drive systems, AC/DC motion control, digital and analog systems, data acquisition, power distribution, systems integration, human/machine interface (HMI), and programming in a wide variety of formats. In this position you will gain valuable experience in industrial automation and control, how control systems play an active roll in employee safety, PLC programming, and systems troubleshooting, all within a technology enriched industrial environment and a growing and key business of 3M. Some travel will be required (estimated at 5%).

Location: The person hired for the position of Control Systems Engineer will be located in Northridge, CA and relocation assistance will NOT be available for this position.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum of one year of experience in the design and specification of control systems
- Minimum of one year of experience in specifying and programming PLC's and HMI's

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred
- Experience with Rockwell control platforms
- Experience working in a regulated pharmaceutical environment is preferred
- Ability to manage a project involving internal and/or external technical resources
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with individuals at all levels of the corporation
- Ability to train end users on project scope, functionality, operation, and maintenance of a newly installed system
- Practical engineering experience and understanding of principals across numerous engineering trades. Familiarity with a manufacturing environment
- Ability to learn and understand new and changing technologies
- Ability to work in a team environment and a cost conscious environment
- Self directed and motivated, can manage workload with little supervision.
