3M is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer for the 3M Purification Inc. Division.
Job Summary:
The position of Senior Product Development Engineer will require a hands-on experimentalist that can effectively address the multi-faceted challenges encountered in the integration of diverse technologies. Key elements of the position include product and process conceptualization, prototyping, development and scale-up. Effective product development requires project management, application development, as well as, field and laboratory test method development and testing. Individuals in this position will focus heavily on our customer’s systems and processes.
Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Product design and development, laboratory and field test method development, and product testing and project management.
- Have the ability to identify customer needs, communicate those needs, and work on cross-functional teams to develop and demonstrate innovative solutions.
- Work with customer’s systems and processes while continuously leveraging, influencing and leading others on the development team including laboratory, manufacturing, market, business and sales personnel.
- Become fully conversant in air purification products and aerosol science; HVAC system dynamics and operation; system and product electronic sensing, monitoring and computational intelligence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Relocation: Relocation is authorized within country for this opportunity per 3M policies.
Location and Travel: The position of Senior Product Development Engineer will be located in Maplewood, MN and may include up to 10% travel.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 3 years product or process development experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university.
- Digital and analog electronics (academic and/or work) experience.
- Independent, high energy, positive approach.
- Excellent communication and computer skills.
- Modeling/simulation of dynamic systems (academic and/or work) experience.
- HVAC system design and/or operation experience.
- Air quality monitoring (academic and/or work) experience.
