3M is seeking a Systems Technician for the Industrial Business Group located in Hartford City, IN. Be part of what’s next!
Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Systems Technicianwill be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, calibrating and making adjustments to electrical, electronic, and pneumatic process control systems and devices used in production, laboratory, office and utility areas.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Install, troubleshoot and repair: a wide variety of process sensing devices (humidity, speed, vacuum, pressure, level, weight, tension, flow, viscosity, etc.) entire industrial process control system.
- This includes electronic, digital, analog, pneumatic, and mechanical control systems. electrical and pneumatic components on standalone production equipment. both AC and DC motors and drive systems from .25 – 300Hp
- Make PLC programming changes, back up electronic files and update blueprints as changes have been made
- Read and work to the indicated accuracy, specifications, and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, equipment manuals, etc. - Set up, operate and read precision testing and measuring instruments to the manufacturer’s specifications of accuracy.
- Work from both written and verbal instructions.
- Work with cross functional teams, including engineering groups, manufacturing groups, vendors, etc.
- Contact vendors and fill out purchase requisitions to order parts as needed.
- Complete required shop paperwork and use work order reporting system.
- Recommend changes to PM procedures and or frequencies on existing equipment if the equipment is modified, the PM is incorrect or customer requirements change.
- Participate in safety meetings as required and Incident Investigation Teams when requested.
- Report unsafe work conditions or equipment operation to supervisor immediately.
- Report any observed unsafe act or non-compliant work activity to supervisor immediately.
- Observe and follow 3M safety rules and 3M Guide to Conduct. - Keep work area neat and orderly.
- Perform other duties as required by supervision.
This position will require:
- Rotating shifts
- Weekend work
- Overtime
This position may require:
- Holidays as needed
- Short notice call in
Basic Qualifications:
- Associates degree in a technical discipline OR a High School diploma/GED and a minimum of five years of experiences as a Systems Technician in an industrial environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming
- Experience with the repair and/or operation of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic machines and systems
- Experience with Analog and/or Digital Electronic components
- Basic computer knowledge
- Field instrumentation experience including process sensors and control devices.
- Skills in operation and use of hand tools, electric powered hand tools, and machine tools and a variety of testing equipment; reading and interpreting measuring systems; operating shop equipment; troubleshooting equipment.
