3M is seeking a Senior Social Media Manager for the Corporate Communications division located in Maplewood, MN. Ready to be part of what's next?

Job Summary:

The position of Corporate Communications Social Media Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing the Organization’s global Social Media Strategy. This role coordinates with the internal editorial newsroom team, storyteller and multimedia communication specialists, external media team, global counterparts and legal to support the Company’s Vision. You will collaborate across the company and with the eTransformation team, to ensure efforts are fully integrated with other social engagement efforts across the company’s portfolio. You will work closely with global media teams to support their respective missions, ensuring consistency in voice and cultivating a social media referral network.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Create the Corporate Communications social media strategy to increase 3M’s global share of voice and online sentiment via effective digital storytelling.
- Define, develop and implement the global social media communication strategies, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure its effectiveness and encouraging adoption of relevant social media techniques into the corporate culture and into all of the corporate communications messaging.
- Build relationships with key digital media outlets and influencers to amplify reach.
- Collaborate with eTransformation team and other key constituents.
- Drive understanding and use of social media best practices to meet strategic and operational objectives for Corporate Communications organization.
- Manage corporate communications social media campaigns and day-to-day activities. Duties include online advocacy, writing editorial, community-outreach efforts, etc.
- Ensure communications are written using a common voice with clear alignment with corporate messaging.
- Focus on global content creation (video assets, etc.) that highlight innovation story and history of 3M’s successful businesses around the world.
- Collaborate across the company on social media and social networking sites including 3M news, other similar community sites, posting on relevant blogs, and seeding content into social applications as needed.
- Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs, and analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of efforts to maximize results
- Regularly feedback insights gained from social media monitoring into the media and editorial teams, to help them evolve their strategies in a timely fashion
- Monitor trends in social media tools, trends and applications.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university
- Minimum of five (5) years social media experience

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing Communications, Public Relations or English
- Public relations/media relations, Marketing, Sales, Community Management experience
- Exceptional writing skills
- Strategic and business planning development experience
- Good knowledge of principles of SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
- In-depth knowledge of analytics systems such as Webtrends, Google Analytics and/or Coremetrics
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, Digg, Youtube, Twitter, Vine, Flickr, etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios
- Experience communicating organization culture and aligning messaging with the spirit of company culture
- Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Experience in executive communications and other communications for external and internal audiences, including traditional and non-traditional news media
- Experience with content management and social publishing systems (Adobe Social, Vitrue, Shoutlet, Compendium, etc.)
- Experience with media planning and execution
- Familiarity with social listening tools (Sysomos, Radian6, Spreadfast, Evolve24, etc.)

Location: Maplewood, MN

Travel: Will include up to 10% domestic travel
Relocation: Is authorized
