3M is seeking a Senior Hardware Development Engineer for the Traffic Safety and Security Group located in Bracknell, Berkshire Ready to be part of what's next?

Overall Mission

You will work as part of a small cross-functional software and hardware team helping to realise ambitious concepts and bring them to production.

This role will involve firmware and hardware development, system architecture, innovating new technologies, system- and board-level electronics designs, and manufacturing support of our ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) camera products.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Electronics circuit design from concept to production: system design, schematics, layout, BOMs, prototypes, design verification; compliance; and release to manufacturing
- Resolve EMC, ESD, Safety and regulatory issues
- Strong board-level and system-level design
- Ability to develop digital, analog, and power designs
- Proficient in debugging and solving compliance issues: EMC, ESD, power safety, etc.
- Able to supervise PCB layouts, prototype fabrication and design verification
- Proficient in using PCB design tools: OrCAD preferred

Experience
- FPGA firmware design & development in VHDL
- Knowledge of image sensors and optics desirable
- Ability to assess priorities and work to strict deadlines
- Excellent problem diagnosis and solution skills are required.
- Good technical writing skills are desirable.
- “Can-do” attitude is a must!
Qualifications
- Degree in Maths, Physics, Electronics Engineering, Engineering or equivalent is prefered but not essential
