Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Lane Controller Architect will primarily be responsible for working interdependently with a team of architects and developers to design and implement critical business applications supporting various initiatives within the Tolling business of Motor Vehicle Systems and Services Division of 3M. This role will be part of the MVSS Service Delivery team.
The position of Lane Controller Architect will be located in Austin, Texas/ Maplewood, MN. May include up to 25% travel. Relocation assistance is authorized.
Major Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide architectural direction on lane controller systems and back office interfaces.
- Provide technical consulting during RFI/RFP process to do fit/gap analysis and solution architecture.
- Provides technical consulting on complex strategic initiatives in one or more phases of the development lifecycle that involve Lane side software, hardware and Back Office Systems (BOS) implementation and services.
- Build standards, best practices, and guidelines development in order to ensure consistency across development groups within the organization for Tolling business.
- Engage in development, QA and client site implementation as necessary.
- Working with business analysis, development and quality team members to ensure a high quality end product.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited University
- Minimum 5years combined experience with C, and /or C++
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent problem diagnosis and solution skills are required
- Understanding of TCP/IP and networking required
- Basic knowledge of hardware, servers, rack components, understanding of microprocessors and PC Based systems
- Minimum (3years) of experience programming in a Linux/UNIX environment
- Minimum 5 years experience with Unix Shell scripting
- Serial device interface, digital i/o device and/or socket level programming experience required
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with database systems, such as SQL Server, Oracle, DB2
- Experience with implementing Lane Controller solution within Tolling business.
- Experience with Ruby scripts
- Experience with messaging, real time processing and embedded programming
- Linux system administration, management and configuration experience preferred
- Experience designing and coding solutions on Java technology stack
- Experience designing and developing software applications in a commercial environment
- Experience with large-scale, high availability enterprise applications deployed using a major technology stack such as Java and WebSphere
- An expert level understanding of object oriented programming and design principles
- Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required
- Commitment to continuing professional development

- Ability to communicate effectively within a team environment
