Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Product Engineer Electronics Hardware will primarily be responsible for providing engineering leadership and support for commercializing new products and improving existing products for the 3M Food Safety business. Work includes design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of electronic apparatus, components for use in devices used help the food and beverage industries optimize the quality and safety of their products to enable consumer protection.
Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible, accountable and serve as the primary spokesperson for product performance
- Responsible for digital and analog electrical engineering activities to support products and processes in the areas of product development, product design, support and testing.
- Redesign, test and qualify legacy circuits and obsolete component replacements.
- Provide support for existing products through failure analysis of returned product to identify root-cause.
- Lead cross-functional product improvement teams to reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction.
- Design and implement electronic circuits (digital and analog) utilizing electrical circuit development tools, digital signal processing, control systems, and microelectronics.
- Effectively plan and estimate project deliverables, project resources, project spending and project completion dates.
- Participate in or lead the definition of product/design requirements and system architecture development.
- Regular interaction with software teams on testing and releases
The applicant will work and interact significantly with other functions (lab, plant manufacturing, MTD, quality, regulatory, clinical, technical service, hardware service centers, etc.). He/she will need strong written and verbal communications skills, excellent attention to detail, and be process and system oriented. Qualifications
Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelors degree in Science or Engineering from an accredited University
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience with digital and/or analog electronics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University (highly preferred)
- Experience with Product Design
- Combined experience with designing electronic circuits and/or programmable logic
- Experience with analog and digital design
- Experience with test and measurement equipment operation
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of large scope and complexity.
- Ability to work under only general direction while independently determining the approach to problems and solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; including technical writing skills and effective use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities accordingly.
- Knowledge of working in a regulated environment preferred
