Job Summary:

The Optimized Operations (O2) Plant Engineer's role is to perform key functions related to existing equipment troubleshooting, upgrade of equipment and will aid with new equipment component selection and implementation; performing research related to improvements of process equipment for use in the manufacture of 3M products.

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Participating in extensive training such as Lean Six Sigma, project management and leadership development
- This job requires the ability to troubleshoot a variety of control technologies, including AC/DC motion control, digital and analog systems, motor drives, interactive operator/machine interface, PID and PLC control, and systems integration.
- With new equipment coming into the plant regularly, the employee will be expected to continue their learning of new systems.
- Participation on TPM and Lean Six Sigma projects is expected to drive opportunities for improved equipment reliability and integrity.
- Follow Maintenance Conscious Engineering (MCE) principles during any change process including both large and small projects.
- Give input into component renewal plans in an effort to maintain and improve our operations.
- Summarize, communicate, and justify options to senior PE Engineers and leadership.
- Enhances technical knowledge through courses, seminars and/or classes.
- Participate on cross functional teams including maintenance resources and production engineers.

Basic Qualifications:
- Must possess or be in your last year of pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Previous internship, co-op, and/or industry work experience is required

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Previous or current 3M and/or other manufacturing intern experience
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with PLC program development and troubleshooting is desired.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong computer skills
- Ability to work on cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated leadership ability, Organizational skills, process control, and statistical knowledge

Location: Columbia, MO

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic travel
Relocation: Is authorized
