Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Multi Craft will support Plant Engineering activities focused on work order entry, auditing, analysis and lead response efforts to time critical plant maintenance needs. Lead efforts to drive the reduction and elimination of equipment downtime and breakdowns and coordinate resources within and between departments and maintenance groups.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate timely response to daily work requests.
- Communicate unresolved issues with other shifts, craft groups, and leadership.
- Enter and accurately update workorder (CMMS) information. (Parts, Time, Equipment, etc)
- Monitor and analyze workorders for repetitive issues and to help determine root cause for failures, through reviews, graphical and/or numerical analysis, and by using OAMM or other appropriate techniques.
- Assist stockroom Organization through physical reorganization, parts description updates, taking and attaching photos to part descriptions, obsolete parts identification and removal, and identification of plant preferred parts.
- Perform updates and audits of LOTO procedures.
- Aid in inventory and control of critical safety device replacement parts.
- Assist in planning activities.
- Participate on project teams.
- Troubleshoot/repair mechanical equipment and components:
- Repair/replace bearings and bushings
- Replace gear boxes and transmissions
- Repair, replace, align motors
- Splice conveyor belts
- Replace, adjust pump seals
- Repair, replace clutches, brakes and drive components
- Repair, replace, align couplings
- Repair, replace, and change valves.
- Troubleshoot, repair and make standard adjustments to mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and machinery including fixed and variable speed power transmission systems and reciprocating piston equipment.
- Perform basic machining:
- Set up and operate shop equipment and portable power tools
- Use precision measuring equipment for machining.
- Troubleshoot/repair web handling systems:
- Adjust speeds
- Replace encoders and tachometers
- Troubleshoot, replace AC and DC drive controls
- Adjust, replace, and repair web steering systems
- Adjust, calibrate and repair tension controls.
- Maintain, rebuild and replace vacuum pumps, hydraulic pumps, chemical feed pumps, centrifugal pumps, gear pumps, vane pumps, auger and screw pumps and pneumatic diaphragm pumps.
- Install, repair, select and replace pipe, tubing and fittings.
- Move material, equipment and machinery using standard methods of lifting, rigging, hoisting, blocking, skidding and rolling. Level and tram rolls.
- Troubleshoot and repair programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), operator interface stations and sensors
- Replace and wire motors
- Repair and replace contactors and relays
- Repair and replace motor starters
- Replace fuses
- Repair and replace circuit breakers or disconnects
- Repair and replace transformers
- Repair and replace power supplies – AC and DC.
- Repair and replace contactors, relays, motor starters, circuit breakers or disconnects, transformers and AC and DC power supplies
- Replace fuses, replace and wire motors.
- Use proper material joining and cutting process techniques. Fabricate and repair machine parts.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on production equipment, lifting, hoisting and material handling equipment, safety devices and facility utilities following standard procedures as indicated on PM route sheets or in equipment manuals.
- Complete shop records and use reporting system following established procedures as required for effective performance of the job or operation of the department
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Perform housekeeping tasks
- Participate in production changeovers and adjustments
- Perform miscellaneous or general maintenance work as required
- Assist in check out, debug and start-up of new equipment as needed
- Sit, stand, walk, climb, lift 50 lbs, reach, twist, bend, crawl, finger/hand manipulation, carry, push, pull, visual, auditory and mental concentration including handling situations under stress.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor
This position will require:
- Working overtime
- Weekend work
- Working holidays as needed
- Short notice call in
Basic Qualifications:
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of industrial electrical and mechanical experience OR possess a two year associate's degree in Industrial Technology and 2 years of industrial electrical and mechanical maintenance experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- General computer usage skills including Lotus Notes, Maximo, MS Word and Excel, and Web Browser software for internet equipment parts research.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to use or learn to use digital photography equipment.
- NOCTI examination scores that meet or exceed the criteria for Mechanic and Systems Technician classification.
- Skills Craft Test Battery scores that obtain a summary rating of High in both category A and B.
