3M is seeking an Electrical Engineer Hardware Developer for the Software, Electronic & Mechanical Systems (SEMS) Laboratory located in Maplewood, Minnesota. Be part of what’s next!
Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Electrical Engineer Hardware Developer will primarily be responsible for providing technical support for new product and new technology development initiatives having significant business impact to 3M divisions and labs.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Design, analyze, and/or modify analog and digital circuits using simulation software and CAD tools.
- Generate, review, and understand formal engineering drawings and documents required for the fabrication of printed circuit board assemblies.
- Solder circuit boards and surface mount components for population, modification and rework.
- Design and build electronic hardware prototype and demonstration devices for development and testing.
- Generate and review project requirements and proposals for clients and customers.
- Interact with component vendors (domestic and international).
- Provide direction and follow-through for the completion of outsourced assemblies.
- Ability to multi-task on various team oriented projects and activities.
- Use lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscope) to characterize, analyze, and troubleshoot circuitry.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Currently possess or in final year of Bachelors Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on 4.0 scale
- Minimum of 1+ year combined academic or industry electrical engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently possess or in final year of Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- 3M experience
- Minimum 1+ years experience in commercial product development
- Proficiency with Altium Designer
- Familiarity with industry electrical product safety and regulatory standards
- Experience with PLM databases
- Awareness of good systems engineering practices
- Ability to use fabrication equipment (drill press, band saw, milling machine) to build electromechanical prototypes and demonstrations
- Project management or related leadership experience in product development and/or technology commercialization
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Location: Maplewood, Minnesota
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic and/or international travel
Relocation: Is authorized
