3M is seeking a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design and Fabrication Engineer for the Software, Electronic and Mechanical Systems (SEMS) Laboratory located in Maplewood, Minnesota. Be part of what’s next!

Job Summary:

The PCB Design and Fabrication Engineer will primarily be responsible for providing PCB design and fabrication leadership and coordination for new product and new technology development having significant business impact to 3M divisions and labs.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordination and oversight of PCB designs including setting priorities of in-house, OUS, and local outsourcing.
- Utilizing Altium Designer tools to design PCB’s from schematics and board requirements.
- Design analog and digital multilayer PCB’s.
- Apply knowledge of EMI/EMC design issues and certification requirements.
- Create standardized data packages for manufacturing and assembly.
- Create and maintain symbol and footprint libraries to IPC standards.
- Develop Sourcing relationships and structures to promote streamlined component selection.
- Maintain expertise in PCB fabrication processes and design rules that meet IPC standards.
- Apply Design For Manufacturing methodologies.
- Coordinate all activities of in-house PCB fabrication equipment.
- Maintain relationships with outside design and fabrication houses.
- Educate group members on Altium tools.
- Participate in engineering design reviews.
- Manage group Altium licenses.
- Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university
- Minimum 3 (three) years combined academic and/or industry PCB design experience

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- 3M experience
- Experience with BOM entry and file maintenance in eMatrix or other PLM application
- Experience with high-speed and RF PCB design
- Proficiency in PCB design using Altium Designer
- Proficiency in PCB design using Cadence Allegro
- Knowledge of RoHS, REACH and other industry environmental standards
- Experience with automated assembly machines, such as pick-and-place and milling machines
- Familiarity with electrical product safety and regulatory standards
- Excellent Organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Location: Maplewood, Minnesota

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international travel
Relocation: Is authorized
