The position of Plant Engineering Utilities/HVAC Technician located in Menomonie, WI will be responsible for performing routine and non-routine Plant Engineering work as assigned in utilities/HVAC areas.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to
- High and low pressure steam, and water boilers, deareators, pressure controls, pumps, steam traps, heat exchangers, refrigeration systems, air compressors, condensers, evaporators, emergency generators, fire protection system, centrifugal and reciprocation water chillers, cooling towers, water treatments, air handling units humidifiers, heating and cooling coils.
- Working knowledge of pneumatic, electric and direct digital (DDC) controls associated with HVAC equipment.
- Ability to handle a variety of refrigerants and obtain the necessary State and Federal certifications to handle CFC refrigerants.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, vendor drawings and equipment service manuals as required by work assignments.
- Ability to use the Internet to find vendor / manufacturing information needed to service and repair equipment.
- Document maintenance and related functions using the CMMS computerized Shop Work Order System, electronic and manual log books, and Lotus Notes.
- Work with engineers, technicians or craft people during troubleshooting, repair or modify equipment, systems or processes.
- Contribute technical recommendations regarding the improvement or optimization of facility equipment and/or process equipment as needed.
This position may require working:
- Overtime
- Weekends
- Holidays as needed
- Rotating shifts
Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
- An Associates degree in a technical discipline OR a High School diploma/GED and a minimum of five years of experience in an industrial environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- An Associates degree or higher in a technical discipline AND a minimum of three years of experience in an industrial environment
- Experience working with Windows-based computer systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels of the Organization
- Self directed worker who needs little to no supervision
