3M is seeking an Electrical Engineer Hardware Developer for the Safety & Graphics Business Laboratory located in Maplewood, Minnesota. Be part of what’s next!
Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Electrical Engineer Hardware Developer will primarily be responsible for providing technical leadership for new product and new technology development initiatives having significant business impact.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Identify and develop capabilities and products utilizing on or more of the following: sensor systems, data acquisition systems, wireless sensor networks, and/or embedded systems.
- Effectively collaborate and network with numerous internal and external Organizations including 3M Corporate Research Laboratories, universities, government and national laboratories and industry organizations.
- Engage current and prospective customers to identify unmet needs and validate progress against new product development objectives.
- Demonstrate and communicate the technology/product value relative to market opportunities to a broad range of audiences via clear written and verbal communications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Currently possess or in final year of Masters Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on 4.0 scale
- Minimum of 1+ year combined academic or industry electrical engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum 3+ years experience in commercial product development
- Experience in design of experiments and/or statistical analysis
- Proficiency in the design and development of Schematic (SCH) and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) using CAD tools. (Prefer Altium)
- Analog and digital circuit design
- Ability to assemble working prototype PCBA’s for development and testing
- Select and specification of components and equipment based on cost and reliability and creation of BOM
- Failure analysis on components & finished assemblies and approval through testing
- Defining electrical test plans and documents for products
- Create test documents for the newly develop products according to the applicable UL, FCP, ETL & CSA standards
- Experience developing intellectual property through patent filings
- Project management or related leadership experience in product development and/or technology commercialization initiatives

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
