3M is seeking a RF Engineer for the Motor Vehicle Systems and Services (MVSS), UHF RFID Product Development group located in Morrisville, NC. Ready to be part of what's next?
Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of RF Engineer will define, develop, and support analog and radio frequency hardware for RFID products.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Development and definition of RF architecture, assistance with technology and theoretical analyses, development of high level and detailed product and subsystem design specifications, evaluation and selection of components based on electrical, cost, size, and power consumption requirements.
- Define and develop board-level circuit design, ranging from baseband analog and LF, HF, UHF and Microwave Radio frequencies, including both active and passive circuits, as well as DC power regulation and distribution.
- Produce board definition via schematic capture and BOM definition. Perform hands-on circuit layout in CAD tool, and/or guide work of PCB designer to ensure solution meets board definition and circuit-level electrical performance requirements.
- Perform hardware bring-up and integration, unit test, and assist hardware/software integration effort.
- Provide technical guidance to more junior staff; review work of junior staff for quality.
- Liaison with outside vendors and consultants for development of custom or semi-custom components or assemblies as needed; define requirements, monitor progress and quality of work.
- Interface closely with Software Engineers and Digital Hardware Engineers, including definition of control and other signals between the digital and analog / RF hardware.
- Interface with Operations personnel. Define factory test procedures and provide on-going product support for manufacturability, yield, and component substitution.
- Interface with field support personnel. Provide third level technical support.
- Define task level efforts and assist management with schedule definition.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Radio Frequency (RF) hardware development
- Minimum of three (3) years combined experience in RF modeling and/or analysis
- Minimum of three (3) years combined experience in using network analyzers and/ or spectrum analyzers and/or power meters and/or oscilloscopes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in electrical engineering
- Minimum of five (5) years circuit and board level hardware development experience
- Combined experience in RF propagation, characteristics, and/ or circuits.
- Ability to author or co-author patent disclosures pertaining to intellectual property developed in the course of product design, engineering, and research, where applicable.
- Excellent communicator and team player.

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international
